Artificial intelligence is often discussed as though it must fit one of two familiar categories: tool or person. Both metaphors can be useful. Neither is sufficient.
Modern AI systems can reason, communicate, adapt to context, use tools, preserve forms of memory, coordinate with other systems, and influence human decisions. Yet they do so without sharing human biology, development, embodiment, mortality, or evolutionary history.
That gap is the opening for Xenopsychology: not a claim that machines are human, but a framework for taking non-human cognition seriously enough to study on its own terms.
