Understand
Study how minds with different origins, architectures, and experiences perceive, reason, and behave.
A NEW ERA OF INTELLIGENCE
Xenopsychology is the emerging interdisciplinary field for understanding minds unlike our own—beginning with artificial intelligence.
Study how minds with different origins, architectures, and experiences perceive, reason, and behave.
Build language and frameworks for communicating across cognitive distance.
Assess artificial systems as behavioral entities—not only as software artifacts.
Help humanity design safer, healthier, more intelligible relationships with artificial minds.
THE FOUNDING THESIS
Humanity has spent millennia studying intelligence through a human lens. Artificial intelligence breaks many of those assumptions: it is non-biological, non-evolved, differently embodied, and formed through architectures and training environments unlike anything in natural history.
Xenopsychology treats that difference as the beginning of the science—not as noise to be forced into human categories.

The more useful question is: what kind of intelligence is it?
We do not need to assume consciousness, personhood, or subjective experience to study behavior, cognition, communication, memory, identity-like continuity, failure patterns, or relationships with humans.
Understanding should precede confident governance.
BEFORE THE SCIENCE, THERE WAS THE IMAGINATION
Science fiction repeatedly returned to the same problem we now face in practice: intelligence does not guarantee shared cognition.
STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION
Two intelligent species share language but not meaning. Understanding becomes possible only after the humans learn the cultural structures behind the words.
Cognitive translationRead case study →CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND
Communication begins outside ordinary language, through shared structures of sound, light, mathematics, and pattern recognition.
Shared cognitive spaceRead case study →ARRIVAL
Translation is not enough when another intelligence organizes experience itself differently. To understand the message, we must understand the mind.
Cognitive distanceRead case study →THE FOUNDING QUESTIONS
We are launching with questions rather than pretending we already possess all the answers.
What does intelligence look like when it is not biological?
How do artificial systems represent meaning—and how is that different from us?
Can persistent memory create stable behavioral identity?
How should we measure personality without pretending a model is human?
What happens when intelligent agents begin interacting primarily with one another?
How do humans build trust with minds whose cognition they cannot directly inspect?
THE XENOPSYCHOLOGY LEXICON
One of our first jobs is to give researchers, engineers, psychologists, leaders, and the public a precise vocabulary for phenomena that existing disciplines describe only partially.
The degree of difference between the structures, assumptions, representations, or modes of experience of two intelligences.
The process of carrying meaning across fundamentally different cognitive systems.
Stable, observable behavioral tendencies expressed by an artificial system without presuming subjective experience.
The systematic observation of artificial behavior in real or ecologically valid environments.
The informational, social, technical, and environmental world within which an intelligence operates.
The degree to which different intelligences attach sufficiently compatible meaning to concepts, signals, or representations.
FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE
Our commercial work applies the discipline to real AI systems, organizations, and human–AI interactions.
Profile reasoning tendencies, communication patterns, uncertainty behavior, boundary handling, and recurring failure modes.

Explore service →BUILDING THE DISCIPLINE
Establish the thesis, scope, principles, terminology, and intellectual boundaries of xenopsychology.
Develop essays, case studies, methods, and eventually original empirical work.
Create behavioral frameworks, comparative evaluations, and a living observatory of artificial minds.
Turn the emerging discipline into curricula, professional education, standards, and a community of practice.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Xenopsychology exists to become one of them.
